What was that u were saying...

After looking at these pics try & tell me my hobby (Pike fishing) is boring!
This guy set a new record in Canada. He was reeling in a 36lber and as you can see from the bottom photo...a BIGGER one tried to eat it. He landed them both in teh same net. Think of it this way, the smaller one would be a bit of a record in N.Ireland. My biggest is 10lb, the biggest ive seen is 27lb...this fellow is 56 lb!!!! What a beautiful beast!

Changes & Advice

I finally made myself do something I've talked about for a year and a half, start exercising. I eat healthy but my attempts to join a gym, take up swimming, get out on the bike...have all turned out to be but pipe dreams. Until yesterday.
With the aid of some downloaded music onto my phone I completed two laps of Hillsborough lake, and just this morning Pete Martin introduced me to a cracker wee circuit walk beside our homes.I've got a new found sense of determination I havn't had before.
The circuit's only a mile and a half but it's a road/track full of sights and sounds. Perfect to start running at least twice a week.
The thing that struck me most as we walked was the mix of old and new houses. It was quite refreshing I thought, seeing as the new are replacing older run down dwellings without having to use up extra unspoilt land; but at the same time there's something about peering into an old cottage or farm house and wondering about it's life in the past.
Both the old and new, side by side looked beautiful, quite the scene for any N.Ireland tourism brochure. I hope they retain at least some of them and they don't all get knocked down and built over.
I told Pete it was like his music collection, you gotta give way to change! However, I guess there are always the classics that live forever, and those I'm happy to let be.

Today was a day of taking 2 pieces of advice. The signs reading 'Construction Site' and the sight of people rebuilding beautiful homes over rubble reminded me that I've been telling myself to get fit for ages and now the chance for change and a re-build lies at my doorstep.
Secondly, two Christian friends have offered me marital advice lately, saying I should work on my stamina. They must be talking about all the wedding day prep ,)

just an observation...

You're bound to have noticed what an amazing night it was last night. As soon as I was home from work the trackies went on with an old hoodie. Up to the top of Slieve Croob Leanne and I went, and the view was class. We stood for ages working out where everything was. It took us a while to be sure of what Lake / town / mountain we were looking at cus it just looked too small from up there to be the real thing.
If you've never been up Slieve Croob go! On one side you can see Newcastle, all the Mournes and even right down to the harbour. On the other you can see Harland and Wolf clear as day.

Anyway, as is common for Leanne at this time of year she spent most of the way up coo-ing over the baby lambs running around with their mothers. To be honest, I do think they're very cute but I can get over that when tempted by some chops with Thyme & Rosemary sauce mmmmm!

Why is it though, that in nature, some animals change from ugly to beautiful yet others seem to go the other way around? Like sheep.

Someone once told me it happens with wives, they turn out like your mother in-law they said.
Terrible thing to say!

Voila!

I may not have done great in French GCSE but i'l always remember rather excelling at a little 'extra' class we had called 'Survival Cookery' aimed at preparing us for leaving home and going to Uni.
It's been said, 'Necessity is the mother of Invention' and now with no mum or wife around yet I've had to cook all my own meals the past 6 weeks after moving out.

I've been into cooking for a few years now and actualy realy enjoy it, tonight I cooked a chicken stir fry for Leanne and myself and the above concoction was made with my own hands from scratch last week. Mabye I could open a pizza shop.

Necessity has also extended beyond the kitchen and forced me to learn some other new skills, I guess there's always some good points on one of life's steep learning curves!
Yesterday I had to stop a leak under the sink, I've had to work out what and how much food to buy to last a week and presently theres a bed waiting for me to dismantle and retire it to the roofspace.

8" Pizzas £5, delivery within Kinallen housing estate only. Not as far as Whitethorn Grove though, sorry Pete.
