Ok, so I'm going to admit two things straight away. No.1 I do think the above picture is a tad cynical even if it may have a hint of truth, No.2 I got busted by one of those flashing bad boys last night...I know I know, reputation on the line and all that. We're all only human aren't we.
I have to say, Im only annoyed at myself, I'l accept the fine and penalty without kcking up a fuss as I know I was in the wrong.
My only quandry is this, the road is a 4 lane quarter mile straight, uphill! Its not in a built up area and you an see as far left and right as you can straight ahead to the crest of the hill. What I'm getting at is I didn't feel like I was speeding or driving dangerously, I was doing 55 and it was a 40. Am I just making excuses? Mabye I am. Or is it just a good open road that encourages a faster speed than it's limit, making it a good money grabber? Perhaps.
I don't know, some people really get heated up about this debate though.
So what do you reckon; speed cameras...money spinners for the Government, genuinely for our saftey or a sinister part of Big Brother Britain?
What side of the road do you sit on?

Not in a built up area? Its a traffic hot spot mentioned everyday on the radio were over 5 people have been killed in the last 8 or so years...
Surely you could say that for most roads over a period of 8 years, if not more? Especially when you consider the large usage of the road over such a long span of time and sheer no. of cars passing through in nearly a decade.
Its a traffic hot-spot due to the fact it leads into Belfast, the reason its mentioned everyday is because of conjestion not accidents.
Well no I don't think the majority of roads in NI have that amount of fatal RTA's. Speaking as an ex-resident of that road and also the knock dual carriageway the later experienced nothing like that. I agree with you it's on the radio for conjestion which would further points to a very good reason why you should not be doing 15mph above its speed limit. It's a road with 4 lanes yes but its not wide enough to be and has plenty of lenthy bends on it. Time to wise up me thinks!
Looks like its just u and me again pete, thought I might have heated up some lengthy debate here and got more than 4 comments for once. Gonna have to step up a controversal gear or two :)
Could the RTA's be linked to that fact you shared concerning the road not being wide enough for it's four lanes or are they all confirmed to be linked with speeding?
I worry Jamie that you seem to be more concerned with the cost of the fine rather than the risk you put others at...
I havn't mentioned the fine once,I have also admitted blame.
I definetly can't agree that I put anyone at risk,it was hardly high speed or dangerous driving. I can say that with a consiounce clear as day. Also it's a road where the only people crossing do so via an elevated footbridge.
I'm not saying I havnt learnt a lesson cause I have, but whoever you are you make a very bold statement seeing as I'm certain, if you are a driver, you're every bit as guilty for speeding as I am.
